How should I care for my beautiful vintage rug?
Weekly: Just vacuum! Use of a rug pad is highly recommended.
To Freshen Up: Vacuum the back side of the rug thoroughly then flip over and vacuum the top. Lay out on a sunny dry day for 2-3 hours on each side for a nice sun bath! UV rays are known to kill bacteria and fresh air can help release any oders you're pretty old rug may have picked up over time.
Spot Clean: Remove debris. You don't want to push anything into the rug fibers so this part is crucial! Pro tip - You can gently scrap debris out of a rug with a disposable spoon. Rinse with cold water from the back side to try and flush out as much of the stain as possible. Blot then gently clean the stain with a solution made of four parts cold water and one part white vinegar. Rinse the spot in cold water to remove the solution. Blot dry as much as possible and place out in the sun allowing to dry fully. *Remember - The faster you treat the stain after a spill, the higher your chance of getting it out. No hot water. No harsh chemicals. If you are going to use a cleaning product, test first on a small section.
Deep Clean: We recommend professional cleaning every 5 years or as needed.
